Well, hello! Welcome to the blog for Three Eleven Photography! Please pull up your chair, get comfy and take a few minutes to peruse my lastest work and other lovely ideas and inspirations on this blog. I am working on a new site that I am so excited to reveal very very soon. I will keep everyone updated right here.

If it's your first time here, let me tell you a little about Three Eleven and myself. My name is Lindsay Ann Corrigan. Photography is one of my passions in life and people are another. With Three Eleven, I get to combine these two things to make my job! I get to capture the most precious times in life and give them as a gift to relive over and over. Weddings, portraits... life. Everything beautiful in its time. (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Oh, and if you enjoy what you see and read, please leave a comment!

Cheers!

Lindsay

A little lady | McG's three year portraits sneak peek

My favorite people to photograph are my children. My daughter asked me during her three year-old portrait session yesterday, "Mommy, why are you always taking pictures of us?" I answered her with the obvious answer, "because I love you so much and you are so beautiful." Later, though, I was thinking that I better be careful not to overtake photographs of my children. They will either grow to hate it or become obsessed with their own images. Something to think about on this lovely Friday afternoon! More photos from McG's session coming shortly! Have a wonderful weekend!

Beer-braised pork and black bean soup | Crock-pot recipes

I love a good crock-pot recipe. Tonight I made a beer-braised pork and black bean soup that is pretty good and adds a little variety into our usual menu. One thing I like about it is that you just throw everything into the pot; there is hardly any prep time. It has a kick to it, too.

I adapted this from a recipe I found in Real Simple.

Beer- braised pork and black bean soup

2 12 ounce bottles of lager (I used Yuengling)

1 tablespoon chopped canned chipotle chilies in adobo sauce.

1 tablespoon adobo sauce

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 large onion, chopped

1 pound dried black beans, rinsed

1 ½ pounds boneless pork roast (butt or shoulder)

1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt

3 cups water

chopped tomatoes

fresh cilantro

sour cream

tortilla strips (find these with salad toppings)

Throw everything into the crock-pot bowl, except the tomatoes, cilantro, sour cream and tortilla strips. Put crock pot on high, cover and cook for 5-6 hours, or put on low and cook for 8-9 hours. When pork is tender enough, pull it apart (I actually took the roast out of the pot to do this, but you can do it in the pot). Divide into bowls and top with chopped tomatoes, cilantro, sour cream and tortilla strips. Yum!

We only ate about a third of this and I divided the remainder in half, put it into freezer bags and into the freezer. That’s three meals – voilà!

Care to share a crock-pot recipe? I'd love to try some new ones!

Jon & Cait | All Dressed Up and Somewhere to go | Wedding Portraits

My little brother has found himself a pretty amazing lady to spend the rest of his life. They got hitched this June in Franklin, Tennessee, and our parents threw them a second wedding reception in our hometown of Canfield, Ohio at the end of last month. I documented the hometown reception and did a post-wedding portrait session with them. This is my version of “trash the dress,” and I call it “all dressed up.” Usually the couple has “nowhere to go,” but Jon & Cait’s shoot was a few hours before the reception, so they did. (Reception photos will be posted soon, and photos from the photo booth are here.)

If you’ve been following my blog since the beginning, you probably remember Jon & Cait (see them here). They may just be my favorite couple to photograph. We share a love for natural and airy photographs. Plus, they’re just so darn cute together.

Jon and I are five years apart in age, and I have seen him grow from a little brother, who constantly picked on me, into a strong and courageous young man. I am positive he is a faithful and loving husband and Caitlin is made for him! When I met Caitlin, I immediately wanted to get to know her, not only because she was dating my brother, but because she introduced me to Bon Qui Qui. She constantly keeps us laughing and is a joy to be around.

Josiah, McG and I (baby in-tow) were all in the Franklin wedding, so I could not take my camera along. That was really hard! But I needed to experience their wedding with my own eyes, not my lens. I saw my brother as I walked down the aisle toward him in his last moments as a single man. I stifled my own tears when I saw his as they celebrated Christ’s covenant with communion.

They hired an amazing photographer (Jenn M. Photography), but I still had that yearning to mark the event myself. This session completely fulfilled my desire to capture their marriage.

Jon & Cait! Thank you so much for allowing me to share in this special time of life with you in so many ways. We were looking forward to your marriage from the day Jon was born! We are so blessed to have you in our family now, Caitlin. Love you guys!
